Following the project of railway installation in the port of Khalifa, Abu Dhabi Ports has launched a new expansion more to the East. This expansion includes the construction of a 2.5 km offshore breakwater and a platform with protections made in ACCROPODE™ I blocks.

Special features of the project

CLI provides technical assistance and a Compliance Certificate for the installation of the ACCROPODE™ I blocks on the entire structure.
The monitoring and verification of the installation is done using a 3D model of the armour obtained on the basis of bathymetric and photogrammetric surveys during the construction.

  • Max. seabed depth (toe): -9 m 
  • Top of the crest: +5.2 m 
     

Construction Aspect

The breakwater was built from land. 41 413 ACCROPODE™ I units of 1.5 m3, 2.5 m3, 2.2 m3 and 3.3 m3 were placed using cranes.
