ACCROPODE™ technology used for the flagship Hong-Kong Airport third runway system project.

CLI has signed an agreement with the ZHEC-CCCC-CDC joint venture for the use of the ACCROPODE™ technology for seawall protection as part of the flagship Hong-Kong Airport third runway system project. The new runway is built entirely on a new reclaimed area in the Pearl River mouth and will be protected against waves by 2.0 m3 ACCROPODE™ blocks over a distance of nearly 4 km. This protection, aims to prevent cyclone waves and to dissipate the wave energy while keeping overtopping to a minimum to protect flight assistance equipment and commercial flight operations on the runway.

This major contract involving the ACCROPODE™ technology along with technical support from CLI, proves once again the good relations, cooperation and confidence with local stakeholders that began in 2016 when the Hong-Kong Boundaries Crossing Facilities was built. CLI is proud to take part in this challenging project.
