The project involves constructing a protective structure along the coast road near the village of Garachico in the north-western part of the island of Tenerife. The 300 m long structure is protected by a facing of 18 m3 ACCROPODE® blocks and 5.7 m3 ECOPODE® blocks on the upper berm.

The added value of CLI

This project was the first time the ECOPODE® technique had been used, as the client laid great emphasis on reducing the visual impact of this coastal protection structure on the surrounding environment.

Special features of the project

Sogreah provided technical assistance to the contractor during the works, including the following:

  • Provision of technical information required for the successful completion of the structure.
  • Technical assistance on site with casting and placing the ACCROPODE® blocks. This involved 8 site visits.
  • Supply of positioning drawings for the ACCROPODE® armour.

Sogreah provided the contractor with 8 ECOPODE® forms required for casting the blocks, as well as specific technical assistance in implementing this new technique.
