Another successful ACCROPODE™ project : Kiyanli shipyard, Turkmenistan
In Turkmenistan Republic, Petronas Carigali Company has built infrastructures for a major shipyard at the coastal town of Kiyanli on the eastern shore of the Caspian Sea.
Petronas Carigali awarded ILK CONSTRUCTION for the maritime structures which include two breakwaters.
Their design was carried out by ARG Coastal Engineering Company in Istanbul and the model tests were performed by ARTELIA (France).
The 900m long Northern breakwater and the 350m long Southern breakwater encompass a basin as big as 25 ha for sheltering the new ship yard. As a sensitive structure, the designer decided to protect the most exposed sections with an ACCROPODE™ primary armour ranging from 1m3 to 2.5m3. A total of 10 718 units were placed in 14 months and the completion of the whole project is due in August 2015. CLI efficiently assisted the Contractor in the implementation of the technique, leading to a successful completion of the project, ahead of schedule and with a remarkable quality.
